Book Review: In Case You Come Back by Marla Miniano & Reese Lansangan

Since its been months after I posted my first book review here, I realized that I should continue posting more book reviews since I’m a book worm myself. 🙂

For me, this book isn’t like any other ordinary books I’ve read because this one really caught my attention when Ate Marla first posted this on her Instagram.

Its been a year since I’ve bought this book but anyway, here I am going to introduce it!

In Case You Come Back

This book of poetry contains musings on:

adventure, anniversaries, the beach, breakfast, childhood, clouds, constellations, courage, delayed gratification, dragonflies, eating alone, falling in love, first dates, frenemies, goodbyes, growing up, half – truths, heartbreak, holding hands, homecomings, insecurities that follow you around, the internet, jealousy, kisses, marshmallows, memory, mornings, mortality, newsletters, opposites, paper cuts, pixie dust, plane crashes, popularity, queues, rain, report cards, room service, science, a sea of coffee, shipwrecks, sick days, souvenirs, space, tattoos, tense lunches with mom, trains, travel, waiting, weekends, white dresses, yoga

I really love this book because….

First, I love reading books!! Most especially when books are about love, youth, life and about poetry. Reading books is one of my hobbies whenever I’m not doing any school works. I love putting myself inside the book so that I will be able to put myself into the character’s shoe. Imagining while reading also adds up to the idea of the book while I’m reading.

Second, the book’s cover really caught my attention. For me, it looks like a bit of white aesthetic and it’s also instagrammable! It’s also very handy and can bring it anywhere you like; i.e: bring it while on a road trip if you want to have some peace and imagination in your mind through this poetry book; it would be lovely if you would bring this book with you in a coffee shop. After getting your coffee or frappucino, I think you’ll have a good read at it!

Lastly, I love making poems that’s why I really have to buy this one! I can’t resist on just looking at it at a book store and leave it all hanging in the book shelves, that’s why I asked my Dad to buy if for me because he really knows that I collect lots of books and I love reading! (Note: When I’m bored, I’m in my mood or when I’ve nothing to do, I usually gives attention to my writing skills that’s why I always write lots of poems, haikus, confessions and short stories.

Book Review: Only A Kiss by Ines Bautista – Yao

“When she was nine years old, Katie knew she wanted Chris to give her her first kiss. It wasn’t because she was in love with him (no way, he was her best friend! Besides, she was in love with his fourteen year old big brother), it was because she could make him do anything she wanted.

Besides, it didn’t really mean anything. It was only a kiss after all.

But then things started to change. They grew up. They parted ways and went to different high schools. And other girls and boys – well, just one particular boy – came into the picture, throwing their lives upside down.

Told fron the alternating points of view of Katie and Chris, this love story between two best friends will tug at your heartstrings and leave you thinking how the simplest things can mean so much.”

Reading this book is like going back to the good old days of being a kid. Being able to get what you want, to say what you want and most of all, to love who you want.

As we grow up, we don’t know how the small and simplest things can mean so much to us if we haven’t lose it yet.

As I was reading this love story, I envy Katie and Chris’s best friend relationship up until they grew up as adults. I have this childhood best friend of mine way back then, partly as we also parted different ways, we lost communication and we found new friends but the thing is, we rarely talk right now.

There are lines that really strucked me while reading.

“Problem is, the only girl I trust not to hurt me is you.”

“…maybe there was no such thing as bad luck when it came to something as powerful as love.”

Those lines were somehow is very related to my life situation like literally now *laughs*

A realization came popping in and out of my head as I finished reading it.

You can get what you want, you can love who you want, anything you want. Its just a matter of time. As Katie and Chris went passing by unexpected circumstances, in the end, they still ended up together. Its truly just a matter of time patiently waiting for what or who you want to be with in your life.

— To all my blog readers, I recommend this book to you because you’ll surely love hanging out with Katie and Chris! 🙂
